On 20 June 2007 a meeting took place that marked the creation (on 21 February 2007) of the Centre of Antitrust and Regulatory Studies at the Faculty of Management of the University of Warsaw. Simultaneously, the seminar was an occasion to present the book entitled ‘The Jurisprudence of the Community courts in competition-related cases 1962-2004’ (“Orzecznictwo sądów wspólnotowych w sprawach konkurencji 1962-2004”), edited by Tadeusz Skoczny and Agata Jurkowska and published by Wolters Kluwer Polska in the ‘Court Library’ series Warsaw 2007. The meeting was organized in co-operation with Wolters Kluwer Poland.

The scientific purpose of this meeting was to enhance the Polish discussion on one of the key topics of competition protection in the European Community – the application of the prohibitions of practices restricting competition by national courts, Polish judiciary among them (private enforcement of competition law). Dr. Agata Jurkowska presented a paper on the subject of the application of the EC and Polish prohibition of competition restricting practices by Polish courts; practical problems of private enforcement were also discussed. The discussion was moderated by Prof. Andrzej Wróbel, judge of the Polish Supreme Court.

A detailed Application of EC and Polish prohibitions of practices restricting competition by Polish courts Report from the seminar can also be found in YARS, vol. 1(1).
