CARS Award has been granted since 2012. From 2012 until 2014 CARS Award had been granted as an antitrust award, and from 2015 it has been granted every year as an antitrust or regulatory award alternately. “Award Rules”, “List of monographs” and “List of voting authors” are always published on CARS website.
Between 2012-2017 CARS Awards were sponsored by the PKO Bank Polski (Polish Bank PKO).
Since 2016 Honorary CARS Award can be also granted.
CARS Award 2016 (Antitrust Award) for Prof. Dr. Cezary Banasiński
The 6th CARS Award Ceremony was held on 18 Mai 2017 it the Ceremonial Hall of the Council of the Warsaw University Management Faculty. The CARS Awards are granted annually by the Centre for Antitrust and Regulatory Studies (CARS, Faculty of Management, University of Warsaw). This year, the CARS Award was granted for the best regulatory monographs.
The Laurate of the CARS Award 2017 (Regulatory Award) was Prof. Filip Elżanowski from the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure of the Warsaw University Faculty of Law and Administration, for his book Prawnoprocesowa sytuacja przedsiębiorstwa energetycznego w sprawach z zakresu regulacji energetyki [Legal-procedural status of energy undertakings in energy regulatory cases] (Wolters Kluwer, 2015). Other CARS Award 2015 nominees were: Dr. M. Chołodecki, Dr. S. Jarecki, Prof. M. Pawełczyk and Prof. A. Szablewski.
Similarly to previous years, the Polish Bank PKO BP S.A. funded the Award, which was granted by Mrs. Justyna Borkiewicz, the Managing Director of the CEO's division of PKO Bank Polski S.A. in the company of the CARS Award Committee members.
„Regulatory Panel” on Activities of sector-specific regulators in scope of Strategy for Sustainable Development was held directly after the Award Ceremony. Dr. Jerzy Kwieciński, Secretary of State in the Development Ministry, Mr. Maciej Bando, President of the Energy Regulatory Office, Mr. Krzysztof Dyl, Vice-President of the Office of Electronic Communications and Mr. Radosław Pacewicz, Director General in the Office of Railway Transport were taking part in the Panel.
